Accreditation

In conjunction with Salford College, Start has now been offering accredited courses, through Acsentis (formerly called Open College North West OCNW), for the past two years.

The time table here at Start is now structured to allow progression routes for all members, so if they choose the accreditation pathway, then they will be able to achieve an Entry Level 1-3 Certificate in Art or Craft and Design, moving through to a Level 1 in Art or Craft and Design. The certificate in Craft and Design is offered in a range of different areas Digital/ Media, Textiles, 3 D Studies which includes Ceramics and Woodwork.

This progression route has been successfully running with in the visual Arts Department for over 2 years and is due to be rolled over in to the other departments as of August 2008.

Over the course of the last year Start has hosted two Learner Achievement Celebrations. In March 2007 Tom Webb, Vice Principal, of Salford College, kindly presented the Certificates to the successful students and in November 2007, Bernadette Conlon, awarded the Certificates.
