Ceramics news updates

Goodbye Sarah!

Sarah Malone, ceramic artist extraordinaire, has said goodbye to Start!
Sarah has worked on the Time Out, Arts on Prescription project for the last four years, delivering ceramic art sessions.
Sarah has done a fantastic job over the years and will be greatly missed by staff, members and volunteers. Sarah now intends to concentrate on her own work and we wish her every success with this. Smile

The Salford Star covers our AOP Mosaic Group

Our friends at Salford Star have written a wonderful article about the Arts on Prescription Mosaic Group. It discusses the work they do, with photos of work and lots of quotes from the members.

It's an uplifting read and brilliant publicity for all the hard work that they do. The article can be found at;

Mosaic Group's wonderful work

The mosaic group’s artwork has been on display at Pendleton Gateway, and this is just one of the areas that the group has been hard at work on.

They also completed a number of table tops which can be used and enjoyed in the members lounge. They have also designed and created a mosaic mirror, which will also be placed in the members lounge.
The group are currently working on a 3D mosaic sign for Start’s Peoples Gallery so watch this space for more info!

Mosaic Group show us the member's lounge

A big thank you to the Mosaic group for making a new sign for the Member's Lounge. As you can see it looks great and will take pride of place for all to see. It is sure to be a feature of the lounge for years to come and shows off the group's hard work and creativity.

Our figures now sold at...The Lowry

We are delighted to announce that The Lowry craft and Gift shop has recently started stocking our ceramic figures. We offered them exclusive rights to our handmade figures, and so far sales are going well with new orders coming in each week. The ceramics department are in full production now, expecting a wealth of sales leading up to the Christmas period. Even with exclusive rights we are still able to sell from Brunswick house, and the market, but the price will be the same, so to see our hand crafted figures in a prestigious retail location pop on down to the Lowry Centre at Salford Quays.

Introducing our Ceramics Coordinator, Will Broughton!

"Hi, I'm Will, the Ceramics Coordinator at Start in Salford. In the last few months the ceramic department has shifted up a gear to become a hive of industry.
Our income generation volunteers have been producing our Lowry figures as fast as they can to cover orders. Thanks to them for all their hard work- keep it up guys!
As well as this there is a new entry & level one ASENTIS program which is due to complete it’s first year in June. Well done to all those on the course everybody has made excellent progress this year!
