Start in Salford events
Life through the Lens
Sian Roberts has a selection of photographs in the BME photography project part of Life Through The Lens: exhibition snapshots of Salford’s past. The new LifeTimes exhibition at Salford Museum & Art Gallery is showing some of the hidden gems from the photographic collections held at the museum. From rat catchers to street parties, the photos have been selected to celebrate 10 years of the LifeTimes project.
Dreamfest
Constance Fearne uses the architecture of Salford and Manchester as her inspiration to generate expressive and spontaneous rapidly drawn poster paint sketches, which breathe and move. Her colour work transforms the stunning but drab looking cityscape into vibrant and textured panaramas which reflect the iridescence of Eastern and Mediterranean art, which she uses as inspiration.
Constance lives in Salford and is a volunteer at the Start in Salford Arts Project and is currently working towards a BA in Fine Art.
Proto Murk Exhibition
Zeke Clough is showing an exhibition of his work in the Start Gallery. Titled 'Proto Murk,' the event will take place from July to September (see above for exact dates) and will show the dark and exciting work of this talented artist.
The exhibition will be a series of drawings and prints. These drawings involve organic structures with cartoon overtones that manifest in a chaotic mix of different media and precise drawing. The result evokes a mix of underwater apparitions and obscure comic books.
Trips week 2010
Trips week is happening this August! It gives the opportunity to visit some of the country's fantastic arts venues (which we have listed below) with other members and staff from Start in Salford. They are sure to be fun and rewarding days out so if you want to attend a trip look out for the posters around the building and sign up there. Otherwise see a Start staff member.
Start's Annual General Meeting
Start in Salford's AGM is taking place on 29th September at 2.00pm. Everyone welcome to come along. For more information about this see Michelle Dennett in the Start office.
