Happy Easter From Start
What better way to celebrate Easter than to show you some fantastic work of our members. These sock bunnies were made by the textile taster group led by Danielle Lowry. They are lovely and bright and will continue to live on well after Easter has finished. Sadly the same can't be said for our chocolate eggs!
Happy Easter from everybody at Start!
Learn how to make a folksy wall hanging
From a heap of unpromising looking old clothing and material remnants, the textile taster group created striking looking folksy hangings.
An old wire hanger was turned into a metal hoop. People then tore strips of material (about 15cm by 2) and knotted them onto the hoop, combining a mix of colours and materials. We then sewed little hearts out of the same materials and filled them with lavender-infused stuffing, finishing off to create an unusual, attractive and scented hanging for the wall, window or even front door.
If you’d like to transform a piece of worn out clothing into a beautiful folksy hanging, you can download illustrated step-by-step instructions here.
