Bespoke Photography Course at Start in Salford

The Photography Department designed a special bespoke one day photogrphy course for Salix Homes Officers to help improve the photographic skills that they'll need for documenting projects and events at work for their publications and website. The course was delivered by John Brewer, one of our sessional artists, and the day was a great success. Salix Homes felt they got a lot out of the day and their officer's are now confident photographers.

Ordsall Hall Picnic Bench Commission

The woodwork team have been super busy in the last three months manufacturing a series of bespoke English oak benches for the Re-opening of Salford’s famous 'Ordsall Hall'.

The workshop has been stacked to the rafters with large chunks of oak which we had specially felled and seasoned in Cheshire specifically for this order. It was part of the design brief to use local timber, which obviously fits perfectly with Start Creative's ethos.

Start Creative's Yurt commissions

Congratulations to Start Creative who have gained some fantastic commissions for their Yurt structures.

The team travelled to Grisedale National Forrest in the Lake District to install their latest Yurt. They were commissioned to build the Yurt, which is complete with insulation, log burning stove and solid front door, and will be available for bookings throughout the year for a unique, yet luxurious, camping experience.

They were also commissioned to produce Yurt style furniture to go inside.
