Insight into our group sessions

This is the Creative Start 50+ group at Ranulph Court hard at work. We have had great attendances at a number of venues and this is just one that we wanted to show off.
These groups are a great way of getting people together, sharing an enjoyment of art, as well as a good chat! It doesn't matter what the ability, only enthusiasm is required.

Check the gallery images for the artwork created here, and at other groups, and see how fantastic it is.

Greater Manchester Arts and Health Project update

The Greater Manchester Arts and Health Project has been a huge success in the districts of Rochdale, Trafford, Stockport and Oldham. Our sessional Artists along with our member artists have delivered sessions in Enamelling, making artists books, Calligraphy, Collage and Photography. These are all highly technical art forms and the results that were achieved looked amazing.
We thank all those who attended and helped make the sessions a success.

Wardley's wonderful exhibition

Congratulations to the Wardley group who ran an exhibition in Swinton library during September. Part of being an artist is having the opportunity to showcase your artwork, so we were delighted that their hard work and talent was available for the public to see. There were lots of paintings on display, from landscapes to portraits...and not to mention a few famous faces (see picture).
The work on display was of an excellent standard, we only wish we could add more pictures for you to see!

Sam's generous donation

A big thank you to Sam Viner who donated his £100 prize, won for his poster design, to Start in Salford. It was a Direct Payment event held at the Walkden Gateway Centre and we are really grateful and flattered by his generosity.
We hope Sam carries on enjoying his work and developing his talent.

Sydney's Exhibition

Congratulations to Sydney Cauldwell who is currently holding an exhibition of his paintings in our top floor studio. Sydney is a member of the Creative Start 50+ group at Queen Alex Close in Ordsall.
His collection of landscapes and seascapes really are spectacular and we are enormously proud to have his work on display.
It is hard to believe that Sydney only began painting late in life and he is surely an inspiration to all of us that it is never too late to learn a new talent!

Exhibition runs until christmas so don't miss out on this wonderful work.

AOP volunteer Constance Fearn leads her first sessions!

Arts on Prescription volunteer Constance Fearn has recently successfully led a 6 week member skill share session for the user led group. The work produced in the sessions were outstanding and feedback from members has been very positive. Well done Constance, we are so proud of you.

First prize for poster design, congratulations Sam Viner!

Recently, members of Start in Salford's Visual Arts Department where given the opportunity to take part in a poster competition on behalf of the Salford Direct Payments team. Sam Viner from the Visual Arts Taster group achieved first prize for his design, meaning that his work will become the new image for the campaign being used throughout Salford on bus stops and billboards. Sam also won £100 as part of his prize which he is kindly insisting is donated to Start. Thank-you and congratulations Sam!
