Start Over Fifty news and reviews

'Start Over Fifty' exhibition at Swinton Library

Congratualations to Clifton's 'Start Over Fifty' group who are exhibiting their work at Swinton Library. The wonderful pieces are available to view throughout May and into June. For the full details of where and when to visit go to our Events section of the website.

Group renamed: 'Start Over Fifty'

Changes have occurred for our 50+ group that we feel we need to clarify to all our members.

The Creative Start 50+ group will now be known as 'Start Over Fifty,' its aim 'To Discover A New Creative You.'

The last few months have seen record numbers joining, with new venues added including Gan Eden, the Jewish sheltered accommodation, Moores House run by the Retail Trust, Ordsall Library and St John’s Community Centre in Walkden.

Insight into our group sessions

This is the Creative Start 50+ group at Ranulph Court hard at work. We have had great attendances at a number of venues and this is just one that we wanted to show off.
These groups are a great way of getting people together, sharing an enjoyment of art, as well as a good chat! It doesn't matter what the ability, only enthusiasm is required.

Check the gallery images for the artwork created here, and at other groups, and see how fantastic it is.

Wardley's wonderful exhibition

Congratulations to the Wardley group who ran an exhibition in Swinton library during September. Part of being an artist is having the opportunity to showcase your artwork, so we were delighted that their hard work and talent was available for the public to see. There were lots of paintings on display, from landscapes to portraits...and not to mention a few famous faces (see picture).
The work on display was of an excellent standard, we only wish we could add more pictures for you to see!

Sydney's Exhibition

Congratulations to Sydney Cauldwell who is currently holding an exhibition of his paintings in our top floor studio. Sydney is a member of the Creative Start 50+ group at Queen Alex Close in Ordsall.
His collection of landscapes and seascapes really are spectacular and we are enormously proud to have his work on display.
It is hard to believe that Sydney only began painting late in life and he is surely an inspiration to all of us that it is never too late to learn a new talent!

Exhibition runs until christmas so don't miss out on this wonderful work.

50+ Exhibition @ Langworthy Cornerstone!

The Langworthy Cornerstone on Liverpool Street is currently holding an exhibition of work produced by the Creative Start 50 plus photographers. Photographs can be seen by Ron and Beryl Chambers, Gwen Fairbrother, Daisy Shortman, June Smith, Lilian Knot, Margaret Brown and Margaret Gallagher all from the former Angel Digital Photography group. The exhibition is proving extremely popular and will be on show until July at the earliest.

Belly good show by these brave over-50s

As seen in the Salford Advertiser February 07, 2008:

A GROUP of adventurous over-50s have been lifting the veil on the ancient art of belly dancing.

The women of the Walkden Guild Hall have been learning to shake, rattle and roll under the expert tuition of dance teacher Michelle Pender.
