Learner Achievement Celebration December 2011
Start hosted its 4th Learner Achievement Celebration on December the 6th, in the People's Gallery. Congratulations to all the members who have attaind Qualifications over the last year at Start
Start over Fifty Group awarded £1,600
Great news. Start over Fifty Pendleton Gateway group has been awarded £1,600 by the community Council for Greater Manchester. The award is from the Active at Sixty Fund part of a national initiative from the Department of Work and Pensions.
The money will secure 20 weeks of tutor led sessions for the group and enable them to recruit new members.
Well done to Pat,Sue and the team.
Youth Arts - Green Woodworking & Creative and Media
Start's youth arts programme is currently running two projects for young people aged between 12 to 25 years old. These are the 'Green Woodworking' and 'Creative and Media' projects. The projects take place either on site at Brunswick House or on outreach at local schools, youth and community centres.

Vote Start in Salford for The People's Millions!!
We are delighted to report that Start in Salford's new project 'Start in the Park' has won a place on the final list of projects going forward to The People's Millions public vote!!
We will be featured on the ITV Granada regional evening news programme on Monday 22nd November when the viewing public will be asked to choose between our project and one other project from our region.
The project that receives the most votes will be declared the winner and offered the grant...therefore WE NEED YOUR VOTES!!
'Start in the Park' being filmed today!
We are very excited about our TV debut!! This afternoon our garden and its members will be filmed by ITV, to be shown on Granada Tonight on Monday 22nd November 2010.
The feature is aimed at telling the veiwing public about our new project 'Start in the Park' attracting as many votes as possible in the hope of winning a £50,000 grant from The People's Millions fund.

Start in Salford's awareness campaign to inform the community of how they can help their new project 'Start in the Park' win £50,000 from The People's Millions fund has been gaining pace.
Michelle will be on Manchester's Unity Radio 92.8FM www.unityradio.fm tomorrow morning and on Salford City Radio later on in the day to try and encourage the whole of Greater Manchester to get behind the project and vote for us when the voting telephone number becomes available on Monday from 9am until midnight.

'START' WINS PEOPLE’S MILLIONS FUNDING!!
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Start in Salford have won £50,000 from The People’s Millions fund which will enable their new project ‘Start in the Park’ turn a disused piece of land in Buile Hill Park into a thriving community growing space.
Great Salfordian’s Event Success
Last month on the 13th October Start in Salford held “Great Salfordians” a fundraising event at the Lowry Hotel. The event was attended by many well known celebrities from Salford and the North West, who enjoyed a night of celebration alongside Start in Salford supporters.
Bespoke Photography Course at Start in Salford
The Photography Department designed a special bespoke one day photogrphy course for Salix Homes Officers to help improve the photographic skills that they'll need for documenting projects and events at work for their publications and website. The course was delivered by John Brewer, one of our sessional artists, and the day was a great success. Salix Homes felt they got a lot out of the day and their officer's are now confident photographers.
