Art projects with young people of Salford
Our Youth Arts Inclusion project is aimed at 13-19 year old Salford city residents, who have mild to moderate mental health issues, are at risk of developing these issues, are NEET (Not in Education Employment or Training), have substance misuse issues and/or learning difficulties.
Using art in its broadest form, we work with these young people to boost their confidence and self esteem, work on co-ordination and dexterity skills. We can also teach practical and structured art techniques.
Eco bags
Eco bags – The photography income generation group came up with the idea of printing photographs onto natural canvas shopping bags, not only would they look great but they would also promote recycling and green issues. The bags sold well at the market and we have had interest from retail outlets like The Lowry Shop, to stock our eco bags! We are also looking to take on commissions and will print any image on the bags, so if you’d like a personalised bag using one of your photographs give us a call; it’s a novel gift idea.
'Satellite City' exhibition
The 'Satellite City' exhibition at Salford Museum and Art Gallery was a huge success and was really well received. This was a collaborative exhibition with all the departments in the Core project and Creative Start 50+, Youth Arts Inclusion and Arts on Prescription members contributing toward it.
