A sign for Edith
We want to say a big thank you to Ian Saville for creating the wonderful new sign for Edith's Garden. Ian is the woodwork tutor here at Start and has crafted a beautiful piece of work fittingly in Edith's name. The sign takes pride of place in the newly named garden so go and take a look.
Start in Salford involved in Digitales
Exciting media events, which will be involving Start, are taking place this summer!
A collaboration between Goldsmiths, DiGem and the BBC have produced a concept called Digitales. Digitales will form 3 events which Start in Salford will be involved in.
The first event calls for Start in Salford members! Film maker Robert Smith will be working with members to show them how to produce a digital tale.
We are looking for 8 participants to be involved in a two day workshop, creating short digital stories using sound, photography and creative writing.
Liz completes the Manchester 10k run
Congratulations to Liz Shone on completing the Manchester 10k run.
Coming in with a time of 51 minutes 51 seconds she beat her score from the year before, on a day where the wet and windy weather may have made the running even more difficult. She has already vowed to be back next year with the aim to get her time even lower.
So well done Liz (and husband Julian!) for completing the run, we are very proud of you!

Choirs First Ever Performance!
Start in Salford’s choir ‘Start Singing’ had its first public performance last Friday 28th May when they were invited to sing at the Vice Chancellors ‘thank-you’ event at Salford University.
Their performance consisted of a rendition of Labi Siffre’s ‘Something inside So Strong’ and the African song ‘Oh Yeah Narimbo’ which were both received extremely well. Click here to listen to our first performance.
The choir practices every Tuesday 5.30pm-7pm at Brunswick House. The cost is £3 per session.
Anyone is welcome, no matter what your age or ability. It is a great way to meet new people from your community and sing in a large, friendly group. Call Michelle on 0161 351 6000 for further details.
