Our Youth Arts Inclusion project is aimed at 13-19 year old Salford city residents, who have mild to moderate mental health issues, are at risk of developing these issues, are NEET (Not in Education Employment or Training), have substance misuse issues and/or learning difficulties.

Using art in its broadest form, we work with these young people to boost their confidence and self esteem, work on co-ordination and dexterity skills. We can also teach practical and structured art techniques.

During the last two years we have worked on some very successful projects, including;

  • A young parents group and the millennium volunteers showing work as part of the “Satellite City” exhibition, at Salford Museum and Art Gallery.
  • Working with Project 24/7, designing and creating t-shirts to be used for Salford’s Young Persons Housing Charter.
  • We have very recently worked with a group of NEET Young people and a metal artist, to design and create a bike rack to be used at start studios.

Alongside these large quite structured projects there are regular sessions, for example an ongoing project with E2E, where, after consultation with the Young People, each session plan is based around what each individual young person, wants to do, and where we both feel they need the most help.

Allowing each individual to feel important and respected and to feel that their input is of value.
