Bernadette receives her award

We announced a few weeks ago that our Chief Executive, Bernadette Conlon, had been awarded the Mayor's Citizen Award for Salford. As an award that celebrates outstanding contributions made to the city of Salford and its people, we were thrilled that Bernie was recognised publicly for all her good work, and are pleased to be able to give you an update on the special day.
She attended the Mayor's Parlour to accept the award, along with the other winner (Jenny Thomas from Monton), and to start the proceedings.
In his speech Mayor Cllr Roger Lightup signalled the intention of the award and reiterated how deserving both winners were,
"These two women have shown a commitment to their communities which is truly inspirational. They both thoroughly deserve this award as recognition for the wonderful work they are doing for people in the city."
Bernie was then presented with a certificate and beautiful glass award, which will take pride of place in Start's reception for all to see.
The final word will be given to Michelle Dennett, who nominated Bernie, with moving sentiments that are echoed by us all.
“Bernadette’s passion is still very much the driving force within the charity and her life is dedicated to helping the people of Salford. Everyone here at Start thinks the world of this wonderful woman and we are very proud of her achievement.”
