Great Salfordian’s Event Success

Great Salfordian’s Event

Last month on the 13th October Start in Salford held “Great Salfordians” a fundraising event at the Lowry Hotel. The event was attended by many well known celebrities from Salford and the North West, who enjoyed a night of celebration alongside Start in Salford supporters. Celebrities included Coronation Streets Nigel Pivaro, Bill Tarmey, Ian Puleston-Davies and Man City’s Brian Kidd to name but a few.

The event played host to nearly 200 people who were entertained by casino games including roulette and Blackjack. Guest tried their hand against lady luck, to be in with a chance of winning a ‘portrait sitting’ with the famous local artist Harold Riley.

There was opportunity to bid for unique prizes donated by an array of local stars and companies in the night’s ‘big blind auction’. Two signed and numbered Hacienda screen prints and a luxurious weekend at the Lowry Hotel were among some of the prizes.

There was live music throughout the night from variety of local artists and the event was compared by radio DJ Mike Sweeny.

Start got the chance to showcase and celebrate its achievements over the last seventeen years working with the Salford community. A video produced by members and staff was screened at the event. Artwork from Starts new competition that rewards talented artists from Salford was also on display.

Start would like to kindly thank everyone who supported this event and helped to make it happen.

Nigel Pivaro has written an article about the event in the Salford Star, please click here to read it.
