Start member Richard Harper's story so far...

We are extremely proud of one of the members of our Youth Arts Inclusion Project, Richard Harper who also volunteered in the woodwork department. Richard has been kind enough to write about his journey so far...
"A little bit about me; I’m 17 years old. I go to YMCA training in Salford on the e2e course where I do literacy & numeracy and learn to work in a team. I have level 1 in numeracy.
Work placement with Ben at Start in Salford; in the woodwork department, I made:
• Planters
• Bird houses
• Help make a yurt (a small Russian house)
I liked the environment because it was lively and I like the people that work there. Ben is good to get along with and he treats you like an adult. Paul would always help me if I needed help with anything.
Working there helped me being more confident and being a joiner.
Hoodies R Goodies
I liked doing the planning for the project because I liked the ideas that some people came up with. I learned how to make a transfer and liked that. Working with Jane and Sally was great because they’re good to get along with. They also treat you liked an adult.
We did a fashion show which was fun. Good to be doing this with everyone.
I think Start in Salford brings fun into the training and they let you listen to music!!"
