Programmes That Make a Difference
Start in Salford is a safe place for vulnerable people to make a fresh start and learn valuable skills. Our range of innovative creative programmes transform lives and help people get involved with the local community through education, volunteering and employment.
When life is tough, it's easy to lose confidence or feel isolated. Perhaps your lack of skills means finding a job is difficult. Maybe you’re just feeling very low and need an outlet to make you feel part of something, or a place to re-energise.
That’s why we’re here.
At Start, you can develop your creative skills in a friendly and supportive environment, and we’ll guide you towards achieving your long-term goals.
Whether you want to paint or draw, make something, grow your own vegetables, have a go at DJing or play an instrument, our professional tutors will help you discover hidden talents and improve your sense of well-being.
Many of our members go on to achieve great things. Some have gained a degree at university or set up a business. Others have found a job, become a volunteer or simply made a new set of friends. Whatever their progress, our members inevitably make a difference from the first day they walk through our door.
Start in Salford is the beginning of your journey towards a better life. Let us help you get there.
What people say about Start in Salford...
“It has been brilliant…a year on, I am coming to terms with my problems and feel better able to cope. I don’t feel judged in any way. In fact, quite the opposite. My self-confidence has taken quite a few steps towards recovery, which family and friends have noticed, and I have the beginnings of a social life again.”
